Course Outline
Day 1 – Introducing the NLP Communication Model
Facilitation and Demonstration gives an understanding of the general framework of the NLP Communications model; the process of interpersonal communication is broken down into its component parts. How each part interacts, informs and influences other parts to create the ‘experience’ of communication. A look at the skills models and personal interpretive distinctions that we use to create self reflexive consciousness – from which and to which we communicate.
Outcomes:
- Learn the core components of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Communication Model
- Learn about the ‘movies’ we make in our minds as we “make sense” of the information we take in and the experiences we have.
- Learn how we make meanings about our experiences; and how the meanings we make determine the actions we take—behaviors and performance
- Learn how to run your own brain by choosing your meanings and help others to do the same
- Learn how to connect with authenticity
- Learn how to detect the states of mind and internal experiencing of self and others –the basis of emotional intelligence (EQ)–
Day 2 – Deeper Dive into the NLP Communication Model
A deeper analysis and more in-depth understanding of the core ingredients of communication excellence. Develop high quality listening skills, understand the skill of “presence listening” as a means of truly supporting another person by creating a conversational space of trust, safety and compassion, in which crucial and even fierce conversations can safely take place.
Outcomes:
- Review the core components of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Communication Model
- Learn through practice–‘sensory acuity’ in order to gain more awareness and insight into what is being communicated both verbally and non-verbally
- Learn through practice–how to connect and relate more powerfully with other through creating a higher level of rapport
- Learn through practice–how to hear the multiple frames of meaning, inherent assumptions, cognitive distortions and thinking filters a person holds
- Learn how to stop your own internal chatter, become aware of your own filters, cognitive distortions and assumptions and become fully present in your communication with others…and with yourself
- How to free yourself from your assumptions and ensure you have a clear understanding of the other persons communication intent
Day 3 – Precision Questioning, States and Meta States of Mind, Detecting and Expanding Perceptual Thinking Patterns
Explore precision questioning, solution oriented questioning, meaning deconstruction questioning using the Meta Model Questioning Process. Synthesize how the movies we make in our mind, the meanings we make of these movies and the words we use to describe these meanings, send messages to our body about how to feel these meanings–embodiment…which combine to create our states of mind…our states drive our behaviors and thus drive our performance. Explore how to use this synthesized understanding to work with our own states and the states of others. Learn and use the Meta-Programs model so that we can explore a format for detecting habitual thinking and behaving patterns, identify perceptual filters, and use them to facilitate development, motivation and high performance.

- Learn through practice– asking quality exploratory questions, that create more precise and fuller communications
- Learn through practice– the skills of changing behaviors through changing habituated patterns of thinking
- Learn through practice—how to recognize and use Meta Programs for enhanced communication, influence and management skills
- Learn through practice–how to use questions to expand awareness and induce more resourceful states that enable engagement, accountability…state management
- Learn to explore and understand others thinking strategies by recognizing and tracking their key representational words and frames through the conversation
- Have a grounded understanding of the distinction between a persons’ perception of the world (inside their mind, their ‘map’) and the real world, and how this perception gap can effect behavior—the map/territory distinction
- Learn how to access and apply beneficial mind-body-emotional states when appropriate—this creates personal response-ability
- Understand and embrace your four personal powers—the power of speech, the power of thought, the power of feeling and the power of behavior so that you unleash your fullest potential and help others to unleash theirs
- To facilitate Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in projects, evaluations, coaching employees, facilitations using the Well Formed Outcome process
